CMB.TECH, the Belgian maritime group, is set to report quarterly earnings on Thursday, with investors watching how volatile tanker markets have impacted margins.
The company’s revenue for the three months ended June is expected to climb 12% sequentially to $580.8 million, according to market estimates. Earnings per share, however, are projected to decline 30% to $0.88 from $1.27 in the prior quarter, reflecting higher operating costs amid fluctuating freight rates.
Year-over-year revenue growth is forecast at nearly 50%, driven by a rebound in shipping demand and elevated tanker rates earlier in the year. CMB.TECH operates a fleet of about 250 vessels, including crude oil tankers, which have faced volatility in spot rates due to geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz.
The company’s stock closed at $18.17 on Wednesday, near the top of its 52-week range of $7.86 to $18.52. With a market capitalization of $5.23 billion, CMB.TECH trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 8.46. In the prior quarter, revenue of $519.6 million exceeded analyst forecasts by 22%, underscoring the group’s exposure to commodity shipping cycles.
CMB.TECH has also advanced its decarbonization strategy, signing a June agreement with Fortescue to charter up to 12 ammonia-capable vessels as part of a broader push toward hydrogen and ammonia fuels. The move aligns with the company’s efforts to reduce emissions across its fleet while adapting to evolving regulatory and market demands.
