Citizens Financial Group maintained its "Market Outperform" rating on Zymeworks Inc. (NASDAQ: ZYME) and reiterated a $32 price target, following the biotech’s Q2 2026 earnings release and the U.S. FDA’s approval of zanidatamabe for first-line treatment of gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma.
The analyst’s valuation is supported by a discounted cash flow analysis and revenue multiples, with royalties from zanidatamabe expected to drive significant contributions in the coming years. Zymeworks’ stock closed at $27.47 on August 25, 2026, giving the company a market capitalization of approximately $1.95 billion. Over the past year, the shares have gained 85%, reflecting investor optimism around the company’s pipeline and strategic initiatives.
Zymeworks’ pro-forma cash position stood at $572.5 million as of the latest reporting period, while its current ratio reached 6.32, indicating strong liquidity. The company is advancing two clinical-stage assets, ZW191 and ZW251, both part of its pan-RAS inhibitor antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) platform. Management has also implemented an aggressive share buyback program, with recent repurchases contributing to the firm’s capital allocation strategy.
In a separate development, Zymeworks entered a definitive agreement to acquire Theravance Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ: TBPH) in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $929 million, or $17 per share. The transaction includes YUPELRI, a treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) commercialized in the U.S. since 2019. The deal is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.
Following the FDA approval and earnings update, other analysts have also adjusted their outlooks for Zymeworks. B. Riley maintained a Buy rating with a $40 price target, while Stifel kept its Buy rating and $47 target after management meetings. H.C. Wainwright reiterated its Buy rating with a $46 target, citing new clinical data for ZW191. BTIG, however, downgraded Theravance Biopharma from Buy to Neutral, citing the pending acquisition by Zymeworks.
