Bumrungrad Hospital reported a 1.7% year-over-year rise in net profit for the second quarter of 2026, as international patient revenue grew 7.1% to offset a 2.2% decline in Thai patient admissions. The Bangkok-based operator posted net profit of THB 1.89 billion ($52.5 million) on total revenue of THB 6.28 billion, up 2.9% from a year earlier.
International patient revenue, which now accounts for 66% of net patient revenue compared with 64% in the same period last year, expanded across key markets. Revenue from the Middle East increased 7.1% in Q2, while the United States grew 19.2% and the United Kingdom rose 16.7%. Excluding Cambodia, international revenue growth accelerated to 10.6% in Q2 and 10.2% in the first half of 2026. Myanmar led regional gains with a 27.8% increase, though Bangladesh and Mongolia posted declines of 4.4% and 6.4%, respectively.
Domestic revenue fell 2.2% year-over-year, with inpatient services comprising 51% of total Q2 revenue, up from 50% a year earlier. Outpatient revenue declined 2.8%. Overall revenue intensity rose 6.1% in Q2 and 6.6% in the first half, driven by a 20.9% increase in Middle Eastern patient revenue intensity.
Profitability metrics remained robust. EBITDA increased 2.4% to THB 2.60 billion, with an EBITDA margin of 41.4%, while net profit margin stood at 30.1%. For the first half of 2026, total revenue reached THB 12.53 billion, up 1.8%, and net profit totaled THB 3.68 billion, a 2.4% increase. The company maintained a strong balance sheet with net debt to EBITDA at negative 0.4x and net debt to equity at negative 0.1x.
Operational highlights included the completion of Thailand’s first minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass procedure in the private sector in July 2026 and 127 robotic-assisted surgeries using the Da Vinci Xi system during the quarter. Bumrungrad also reported growth across several Centers of Excellence, with colorectal surgery revenue up 31.7% and breast services rising 26.7%. A health fair promotion in Q2 achieved 92% of its target, with bilateral total knee replacements exceeding goals by 203%.
The company’s return on equity stood at 25.5% for 2025, compared with 12.3% at PR9 and 10.2% at BDMS, while return on assets was 21.7%. Bumrungrad’s stock traded at $197.50, up 0.77% on the day, within a 52-week range of $136 to $214. An interim dividend of THB 4 per share was approved, double the historical THB 2 payout.
