Brazil added 58,568 net formal jobs in July, falling short of economist forecasts for 112,000 new positions. The Labor Ministry reported that 2.26 million jobs were created during the month while 2.20 million were eliminated, resulting in the smallest monthly gain in 2026.
The July figure also represents the weakest job creation performance for any July since the government’s data series began in 2020. Year-to-date through July, Brazil has created 972,203 formal jobs, a decline of roughly 21% compared with the same period last year.
