Boxabl Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL) has secured a licensed general contracting capability in California, allowing the modular construction company to bid directly on site development and installation projects for its buildings. The expansion follows Boxabl’s business combination with FG Merger II Corp., which took effect on July 20, 2026, enabling the firm to trade on the Nasdaq.
The company’s flagship product, the Casita—a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site—has previously relied on third-party contractors for permitting, site preparation, foundation work, and installation. With the new license, Boxabl will now employ its own general contractor to manage projects from manufacturing through completion, reducing costs and improving quality control.
Boxabl has raised over $230 million since 2017 and counts more than 50,000 investors. The move targets both individual homeowners and large-scale customers, including real estate developers, municipalities, and institutional buyers. For individuals, Boxabl will offer bundled services from permitting through installation. For larger projects, the company will provide site evaluation, entitlement support, site work, and installation alongside unit delivery.
Founder and Co-CEO Galiano Tiramani stated that the new capability allows Boxabl to lead real estate development efforts rather than limiting itself to manufacturing. The company plans to expand this licensed contracting capability to additional states by hiring general contractors licensed in those jurisdictions or having existing contractors obtain new state licenses. The initiative aims to strengthen Boxabl’s position in bidding for commercial, municipal, and multi-unit developments.
