Bitcoin surged 10.3% on Thursday to reach $71,021.6, its largest one-day percentage gain since February 6, according to the Investing.com Index. The cryptocurrency traded between $68,898.5 and $71,021.6 over the 24-hour session, extending a seven-day advance of 9.3% despite remaining 3.7% below its all-time high of $73,740.90 set in March 2024.
The market capitalization of Bitcoin rose to $1.40 trillion, accounting for 58.9% of the total cryptocurrency market cap, while 24-hour trading volume reached $55.6 billion, representing 41.9% of all crypto transactions. Ethereum outperformed with an 18.3% gain to $2,273.78, lifting its market cap to $271.4 billion and 11.4% of the sector’s total value. Tether’s USDt, the largest stablecoin by market cap, held steady at $0.9996, down 0.01%, with a market cap of $183.0 billion.
The rally follows a period of consolidation after Bitcoin’s March 2024 peak, with the seven-day gain signaling renewed investor interest in the asset class.
