Basilea Pharmaceutica AG (SIX: BSLN) reported a 32% increase in operating profit to CHF 32 million for the first half of 2026, alongside a 32% rise in net profit to CHF 27.9 million. Total revenue grew 14% year-over-year to CHF 119 million, supported by higher royalty income and reimbursements from government grants.
Royalty revenue from Cresemba and Zevtera reached CHF 57.8 million, while other revenue—primarily from BARDA and CARB-X reimbursements—totaled CHF 26.7 million, nearly double the prior-year period. Operating cash flow for the six months stood at CHF 19 million, with the company’s net cash position doubling to CHF 105 million as of June 30, 2026. Total cash and cash equivalents amounted to CHF 176 million, with debt reduced by CHF 150 million since 2022.
Cresemba global in-market sales reached USD 782 million on a moving annual total basis through March 2026, a 27% increase year-over-year. The company’s expanded access program for fosmanogepix has treated nearly 600 patients across 22 countries, with peak sales potential estimated at USD 1 billion. Ceftibuten-ledaborbactam, another late-stage candidate, is projected to generate peak sales of USD 500 million. Combined peak sales for fosmanogepix and ceftibuten-ledaborbactam are estimated at USD 1.5 billion.
Basilea raised its full-year 2026 guidance, now expecting total revenue growth of approximately 15% year-over-year, up from the prior forecast of around 10%. Operating profit is projected to rise about 40%, compared with the previous estimate of a 20% increase. Revenue from Cresemba and Zevtera is expected to total roughly CHF 210 million, including CHF 125 million in royalty income, CHF 35 million in milestone payments, and CHF 50 million in product revenue. Research and development expenses are projected to increase by about 20%.
The company also highlighted non-dilutive funding of USD 61 million awarded in H1 2026, bringing total committed funding to more than USD 440 million, with approximately USD 165 million already received. Additional non-dilutive funding of over USD 350 million is anticipated through 2030 under existing agreements. Basilea’s capital structure includes CHF 71 million in convertible bonds maturing in July 2027 and a similar-sized private loan.
Basilea is scheduled to present its half-year 2026 results on August 18, 2026, followed by a Capital Markets Day in Zurich on October 28, 2026.
