Atlas Energy Solutions Inc. (NYSE: AESI) announced Friday that two of its subsidiaries have entered into cost reimbursement agreements with an undisclosed AI lab customer to support power infrastructure for data center projects.
Under the first agreement, Atlas will supply balance-of-plant equipment including emissions control systems, electrical distribution gear, and battery energy storage systems. That equipment supports generators already ordered by Atlas under its existing global framework agreement with Caterpillar Inc.
A second agreement adds 283 megawatts of Caterpillar power generation equipment for a separate data center project, distinct from Atlas's obligations under its Caterpillar framework.
Atlas also executed a purchase agreement for 328 megawatts of generating capacity under its Caterpillar framework for 2027 deliveries.
The company did not disclose financial terms of the agreements or identify the customer.
John Turner, Atlas president and chief executive officer, said the need for power infrastructure continues to grow rapidly, adding that "de-risking the supply chain and the project timelines is of paramount importance" as the company works with customers to ramp compute capacity.
Turner noted the customer's willingness to enter cost reimbursement agreements signals commitment as both parties move toward executing long-term power purchase agreements.
