Artificial intelligence company Anthropic PBC has appointed Citigroup Inc. to lead its upcoming initial public offering, joining Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. in the top underwriting group.
The decision comes as Anthropic accelerates preparations for a listing, with plans to file as early as this month. The addition of Citigroup underscores the IPO’s anticipated size and complexity, as top-tier roles typically command larger fee shares and enhance league-table rankings.
The move follows a $2.5 billion revolving credit facility arranged last year, which included Citigroup among the participating banks. Sources indicate the facility’s size is expected to rise above $10 billion, reflecting Anthropic’s expanding financing needs ahead of a public listing.
Citigroup’s stock rose 0.5% in after-hours trading on Thursday following the report. The underwriting lineup remains subject to change, and additional banks may be added as the process develops.
