Anthropic has agreed to a $45 billion cloud computing deal with London-based Nscale, securing 460 megawatts of power for six years to support its AI infrastructure needs. The arrangement is part of a broader push to lock in capacity ahead of Anthropic’s planned initial public offering.
The agreement covers the first of three planned buildings at Nscale’s Monarch campus in West Virginia, a site previously under consideration by Microsoft before the company withdrew its plans. The campus is designed to deliver up to 1.35 gigawatts of total power capacity when fully completed.
Nscale, a member of the emerging "neocloud" sector specializing in AI-focused data center leasing, will rely on Nvidia’s upcoming Vera Rubin chips to meet Anthropic’s computing requirements, with deployment expected to begin late next year. The power commitment alone is equivalent to supplying 345,000 U.S. homes at any given time.
The deal follows a series of high-value agreements Anthropic has secured in recent months, including a $45 billion arrangement with SpaceX and a $50 billion pact with Fluidstack. Earlier this year, the company also finalized a $10 billion deal with Volta Infra Holdings Ltd. Anthropic’s valuation reached $965 billion in May, underscoring the scale of investment required to develop advanced AI infrastructure.
Nscale is preparing for an initial public offering as soon as next month, positioning the company to capitalize on growing demand for specialized AI computing resources.
