Artificial intelligence company Anthropic is arranging a revolving credit facility of at least $10 billion to support its growth and upcoming public debut, according to people familiar with the matter.
The San Francisco-based startup has asked lead banks to commit roughly $1.25 billion each, with secondary participants expected to contribute about $1 billion. Smaller syndicate members are anticipated to take allocations of $750 million or less, the sources said.
Anthropic’s previous credit facility, secured in 2025, totaled $2.5 billion with a five-year term. The company is now expanding its financing capacity as it prepares for a potential initial public offering, with market watchers anticipating a Wall Street debut as early as this fall. Anthropic has filed confidential IPO paperwork alongside rival OpenAI, though no final decision on timing has been made.
The financing push follows Morgan Stanley’s arrangement of $15 billion in debt for an Anthropic data-center project in Texas. The package includes a $14 billion bridge loan to developer Nexus Data Centers, aimed at scaling infrastructure to support AI workloads. Comparable precedents include SpaceX’s expansion of its revolving credit facility to $5 billion ahead of its record public offering.
Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase are also involved in the credit facility discussions, alongside Alphabet’s Google as a strategic investor. The company’s chatbot, Claude, has gained traction in enterprise applications, contributing to the financing momentum.
