AngloGold Ashanti has fully resumed processing of gold concentrate at its Queiroz Complex in Minas Gerais, Brazil, restoring total annual capacity to 280,000 tons. The company invested approximately R$105 million this year to reactivate the second plant, which had been paralyzed since 2022 due to effluent treatment requirements.
The Queiroz Complex now operates at full capacity, with Plant 1 having resumed operations in 2024 and Plant 2 restarting in August 2026. The facility also produces about 240,000 tons of sulfuric acid annually, a byproduct used in agriculture and industry.
Luis Lima, President of AngloGold Ashanti Latam, highlighted the vertical integration of operations as the primary driver behind the restart during the Exposibram mining congress. The Queiroz Complex processes ore from the company’s underground mines in Cuiabá and Lamego, both located in Minas Gerais.
AngloGold Ashanti has maintained continuous operations in Brazil for 192 years, reinforcing its position as the country’s oldest mining company.
