Amazon plans to invest $1.9 billion in its Delivery Service Partner program in 2027, the company announced at Ignite Live, its annual conference for delivery service partner owners held in Las Vegas.
The funding supports a national average driver pay of nearly $24 an hour and follows a 16 percent average pay increase for delivery associates over the past three years. Since 2022, Amazon has directed more than $543 million toward safety investments across its delivery network. Total investment in the Delivery Service Partner program since its launch eight years ago amounts to $21.7 billion. Additionally, the company committed $70 million over five years for community impact initiatives led by delivery service partner owners through Amazon Local Good.
Amazon reported that serious vehicle crashes in its delivery network decreased by more than 23 percent last year. The company also noted that approximately 50 percent of its Rivian electric delivery vehicle fleet will feature surround-view cameras by year-end. The cameras identify vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians from multiple directions and provide real-time notifications to drivers.
In 2025, partners completed 4,800 routes through Amazon Local Good, distributing over 8 million items and 4 million meals to nonprofits at no cost. Amazon expects more than 20,000 units of its AI-powered Smart Delivery Glasses to be in use by the end of 2027. The wearable devices display navigation and delivery information directly to drivers.
