Amazon’s Prime Video plans to invest more than $2 billion in Latin America between 2027 and 2030 as it accelerates original programming and sports rights across five core markets.
The expansion targets Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile, where Prime Video will more than double the number of local original titles from 2026 levels. The 2027 slate includes over 25 new productions, such as second seasons of La Oficina, Tremembé, Menem and Marília, alongside additional scripted series, films and reality shows.
Prime Video will also broaden its sports portfolio under an 11-year global deal with the NBA, offering more than 200 games per season in Brazil and Mexico. The agreement has also brought NBA coverage to Argentina, Colombia and Chile for the first time.
Beyond content, Prime Video will introduce new app features in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay and Peru later this year. Customers in those markets will be able to subscribe to third-party streaming services directly through the app, while rentals and purchases of premium entertainment will launch in those five countries plus Argentina.
The investment underscores Amazon’s push to deepen engagement in Latin America amid intensifying competition in the streaming sector.
