AirJoule Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ:AIRJ) said it will deploy its AirJoule Prime system at a site operated by a member of the Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers in 2026 as part of a pilot program to convert waste heat from data centers into usable water.
The collaboration, announced Monday, is part of the Hub’s Heat-to-X initiative, which explores alternative uses for data center heat beyond traditional district heating networks. AirJoule’s thermodynamic process is designed to convert low-grade waste heat into water in industrial and infrastructure settings, with a focus on commercial-scale validation.
The Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers, based in Fredericia, Denmark, includes APL, Danfoss, Data4, Google, Microsoft, Schneider Electric and Vertiv among its leadership. AirJoule participated in the Hub’s first cohort of startups earlier this year.
Alberto Ravagni, CEO of the Net Zero Innovation Hub for Data Centers, said the initiative addresses a gap in district heating access for many data centers. "Not all data centers have access to district heating infrastructure, which is why we need to explore other ways to create value from the heat they generate," he said.
Matt Jore, CEO of AirJoule Technologies, said the pilot aims to demonstrate the system’s viability in a commercial data center environment. "By installing an AirJoule Prime system at a Hub member site, we will validate how waste heat from data centers can be converted into a usable water resource at commercial scale," he said.
AirJoule operates through a joint venture with GE Vernova and has partnered with Carrier Global Corporation on the technology.
