Viscom reports first-half loss as 2026 starts weak

Viscom AG reported a first-half net loss of €1.2 million, reversing a €2.1 million profit in the same period a year earlier, as demand weakened and project timelines slipped into 2026.

The German inspection systems manufacturer, which specializes in automated optical inspection for electronics and semiconductor industries, attributed the loss to softer order intake and delays in customer projects. Revenue for the six months ended June 30 fell 12% year-over-year to €45.3 million, while gross margin contracted to 34.2% from 38.7%.

Viscom’s order backlog stood at €58.7 million at the end of June, down from €62.4 million at the end of 2024, reflecting cautious spending by clients amid macroeconomic uncertainty. The company maintained its full-year guidance for revenue between €95 million and €105 million, but warned that visibility remains limited due to ongoing delays in key projects.

Chief Executive Officer Klaus-Dieter Wilbers said the company is focusing on cost discipline and operational efficiency to mitigate the impact of the weaker environment. "We are navigating a challenging market phase, but our fundamentals remain strong," Wilbers stated. "We expect demand to stabilize in the second half as some projects move forward."

Viscom shares, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, were down 3.2% in early trading on Friday, underperforming the broader DAX index.
