UBS raises Bloom Energy price target, sees S&P 500 inclusion as catalyst

UBS raised its price target on Bloom Energy and reaffirmed its rating in a research report dated 7 September 2026. The Swiss bank said the S&P 500 inclusion of the California-based fuel-cell technology developer was an important catalyst for the stock.

The report was published as investors focus on the power requirements of artificial-intelligence infrastructure. Semiconductors, storage chips and data centers have already produced large gains for investors during the AI boom, while the energy needed to support new facilities is emerging as the next constraint.

New AI data centers can require not just several megawatts but multiple gigawatts of capacity, a scale comparable to several modern nuclear reactor blocks. That has triggered a global competition for available electricity, with hyperscalers locking in large volumes of power through long-term contracts even as grid and generation capacity struggle to keep pace with the buildout.

Geopolitical risks associated with the Iran war and the Strait of Hormuz add further pressure to the energy outlook.

Against that backdrop, rising demand, long-term offtake agreements and higher power prices could improve conditions for energy providers and their suppliers, with selected companies potentially becoming a focus for investors seeking AI-related exposure.
