Phillips 66 shares reach record $216.32 amid energy rally

Phillips 66 shares surged to an all-time high of $216.32 on Friday, extending gains as energy prices rose and refining margins improved.

The Houston-based refiner and chemicals producer has benefited from elevated crude prices and robust demand for refined products, analysts said. West Texas Intermediate crude futures traded near $80 per barrel, supporting margins at Phillips 66’s refining operations.

The company’s stock has gained roughly 15% over the past three months, outpacing broader energy sector gains. Phillips 66 operates 13 refineries with a combined capacity of 2.2 million barrels per day, making it one of the largest independent refiners in the U.S.

Investors have also cited Phillips 66’s strong cash flow generation and shareholder returns, including dividends and buybacks, as key drivers of the rally. The company’s latest quarterly report showed adjusted earnings of $3.1 billion, up 22% year-over-year.

The stock’s record close comes as energy markets remain tight amid geopolitical risks and OPEC+ supply cuts. Analysts at Goldman Sachs recently raised their price target on Phillips 66 to $230, citing improved refining margins and potential upside from chemical segment growth.

Phillips 66 did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
