Oil prices rise on Iran tensions; five energy stocks highlighted

Benchmark oil prices surged on Tuesday as escalating tensions in the Middle East heightened supply disruption risks, lifting Brent crude futures above $90 per barrel.

Geopolitical instability in Iran, a key oil-producing nation, has raised concerns over potential supply constraints in global markets. The Brent contract for November delivery climbed 2.3% to $91.45 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for October rose 2.1% to $87.60 per barrel. Traders cited the risk of further disruptions to Iranian oil exports as the primary driver of the gains.

Analysts at Investing.com identified five energy equities positioned to benefit from sustained higher oil prices. The selected stocks include integrated majors and exploration and production firms with direct exposure to Brent and WTI benchmarks. The list features companies with strong balance sheets and operational leverage to crude price movements, according to the analysis.

Among the highlighted equities, Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) and Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) were noted for their diversified upstream and downstream operations, providing resilience against regional supply shocks. Occidental Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: OXY) and ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) were cited for their high-margin shale assets, which are particularly sensitive to price fluctuations. Marathon Oil Corp. (NYSE: MRO) was included for its focus on domestic production, offering direct exposure to WTI pricing.

The surge in oil prices follows recent reports of increased military activity near critical oil infrastructure in the Persian Gulf. While no immediate supply disruptions have been confirmed, the risk premium in futures markets has expanded, reflecting uncertainty over regional stability. Investors are monitoring developments closely, with energy equities expected to remain sensitive to geopolitical headlines in the near term.
