Lakewood-Amedex Biotherapeutics Inc., listed on Nasdaq on April 23, 2026 under ticker LABT, announced that it will commence a Phase 2a clinical trial of its Nu-3 Gel for infected diabetic foot ulcers. The trial will evaluate three dose strengths – 2%, 5% and 10% – selected on the basis of pre‑clinical safety and tolerability data.
The company completed a $7.5 million private placement of Series C Convertible Preferred Stock to a single institutional investor in April. The placement issued 937,500 preferred shares, of which 486,260 have already been converted into common stock, leaving 451,240 outstanding. The remaining shares will convert at the lower of $10.00 or 80% of the lowest closing price over the prior five trading days, with a $1.00 floor, potentially yielding up to 4,512,400 common shares.
David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, Ph.D., will serve as Study Chair and Scientific Advisor for the Phase 2a program, while the Professional Education and Research Institute, led by Charles M. Zelen, DPM, will conduct the clinical research.
Lakewood-Amedex also reported an expanded intellectual‑property portfolio, adding an Australian composition‑of‑matter patent to bring its total to 72 granted patents and 29 pending applications worldwide.
The company’s annual meeting is set for September 22, where shareholders will vote on increasing authorized common shares from 12.5 million to 100 million and granting the board authority to effect a reverse split of up to 1‑for‑20 to satisfy Nasdaq listing requirements.
