Kodiak AI, PrePass to Integrate Autonomous Truck Inspections in Texas, Louisiana

Kodiak AI, Inc., a developer of autonomous driving technology for commercial and defense applications, has partnered with PrePass to integrate enhanced inspections for autonomous trucks into state roadside screening systems in Texas and Louisiana. The collaboration leverages PrePass’s network of over 580 inspection and screening locations nationwide to validate autonomous vehicles before they operate on public highways, aligning with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Enhanced Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspection Program. Under this program, CVSA-certified inspectors will verify autonomous trucks for safety defects, ensuring compliance with existing enforcement frameworks without requiring new procedures for driverless operations. Kodiak AI plans to launch commercial autonomous truck operations on public roads by the end of 2026, with the partnership enabling real-time data sharing between autonomous vehicles and state inspectors via PrePass’s platform. This allows inspectors to confirm vehicle status, authorize bypasses, and provide instructions as needed. The initiative marks the first step toward broader adoption of autonomous commercial fleets, with potential expansion across the U.S. PrePass, a nonprofit public-private partnership involving state agencies and trucking industry participants, operates weigh-station bypass and toll payment services. Kodiak AI, listed on NASDAQ (KDK), closed at $3.28 on the previous day, down 14.36%, though it rose 1.52% after-hours to $3.33. CVSA Executive Director Collin Mooney welcomed the collaboration, stating it supports the implementation of the Enhanced Inspection Program for autonomous trucks.
