Kühne+Nagel expands Frankfurt airport’s pharma logistics hub

Kühne+Nagel has expanded its pharma logistics capabilities at Frankfurt Airport with the inauguration of a new healthcare facility dedicated to the transport and storage of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals and medical products. Located within the Cargo City South area on the company’s own land, the facility spans approximately 3,500 square meters and is designed to meet growing demand for reliable healthcare supply chain solutions. While the investment volume remains undisclosed, the center features a 2,500-square-meter temperature-controlled storage area operating at 15–25°C, along with over 500 square meters of refrigerated space (2–8°C) and deep-freeze capabilities for products at –70°C. Additional areas include temperature-regulated distribution zones and specialized handling zones for pharmaceutical shipments by truck. This facility is part of Kühne+Nagel’s broader Healthchain network, which comprises over 270 certified locations globally. The expansion follows prior healthcare-related investments in Frankfurt and underscores the company’s strategic focus on enhancing supply chain resilience for critical medical products.
