Ionic Digital Secures 466 MW ERCOT Approval for Texas Data Center

Ionic Digital Inc. has received provisional approval from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) for a 466 megawatt (MW) energization request at its Ward County data center campus. The request, classified as base-load in ERCOT’s Batch Zero process, represents part of the facility’s planned capacity, which will reach a total of 700 MW upon full energization. The company aims to complete the final phase by the end of 2027. Transmission service provider Texas-New Mexico Power confirmed the provisional classification, though it remains subject to ERCOT’s verification and final determination by the Public Utility Commission of Texas. Ionic Digital, a provider of high-performance computing and data center infrastructure, aligns with Governor Greg Abbott’s emphasis on grid reliability and responsible development of data centers in Texas.
