HSBC Holdings plc announced on September 10 that Group Chief Financial Officer Pam Kaur will step down from her executive role no later than the bank's 2027 annual general meeting.
Kaur, who has been with HSBC since 2013 and served in internal audit, risk and compliance, and finance roles before becoming CFO two years ago, said she will not stand for re-election as a director at the 2027 AGM. Her notice period ends September 9, 2027, during which she will continue to receive her salary, cash allowance in lieu of pension, and benefits.
She will remain employed by the bank in an advisory capacity to Group CEO through the end of 2028, supporting strategic projects and the transition to her successor. The board has begun searching for both internal and external candidates to fill the CFO role.
Kaur will be classified as a "good leaver" for the purposes of her deferred awards and long-term incentive awards, which will continue to vest on their scheduled dates subject to applicable terms. She will also be eligible for annual incentive awards covering the 2026 and 2027 performance years, with the 2027 award prorated to her departure date.
"It has been a privilege to be part of the leadership team since 2013, and I am proud of what we have achieved together to strategically transform HSBC and ensure the bank is well positioned for further growth," Kaur said.
HSBC Chairman Brendan Nelson said Kaur "has made a significant contribution to HSBC over the last 13 years" and thanked her for her achievements and service.
As of June 30, 2026, HSBC reported total assets of $3,438 billion.
