Firy Inc. (NYSE: FIRY) appointed Marc Lasry to its board of directors, effective Oct. 1, 2026, the company announced Monday. Lasry, who also serves as co-founder, chairman and CEO of Avenue Capital Group, will join as an independent director.
Gary A. Vecchiarelli will transition to a board advisor role on the same date.
Lasry brings more than three decades of experience investing across public and private debt in companies across various industries. He originally invested $15 million in the company during its September 2015 Series B funding round, when the firm operated under the name Skillz Inc.
Avenue Capital Group manages approximately $9.2 billion in assets. Lasry co-founded the firm in 1995. His investment portfolio also includes stakes in Wildcat Capital Management and The Kraft Group, through which he was a co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks NBA franchise from 2014 to 2023. In 2023, he launched the Avenue Sports Fund.
Firy is headquartered in Las Vegas and describes itself as a global holding company operating through a portfolio that includes Skillz, RZR and Beamible. The companies span content, identity, commerce and performance marketing sectors.
Lasry earned a B.A. in history from Clark University and a J.D. from New York Law School.
