The first quantum computing attacks on cryptocurrency networks will likely masquerade as ordinary key thefts rather than high-profile exploits, according to industry executives.
Quantus founder and other crypto security figures note that malicious actors with access to cryptography-breaking quantum systems have little incentive to broadcast their capabilities. Rather than attacking well-known wallets, such as those attributed to Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto, attackers are expected to operate discreetly to avoid triggering widespread network defenses or accelerating the adoption of quantum-resistant cryptographic standards.
