CJ CheilJedang Q2 2026 sales rise 10%, profit margins narrow

South Korea’s largest food conglomerate, CJ CheilJedang, reported a 10% year-over-year increase in sales for the second quarter of 2026, though net profit declined as rising input costs and operational expenses weighed on margins.

The company, a unit of CJ Group, attributed the revenue growth to strong demand for its processed foods and biopharmaceutical segments. However, it noted that escalating raw material prices and logistics expenses eroded profitability, leading to a contraction in net profit margins.

CJ CheilJedang did not disclose specific profit figures in preliminary slides released on Monday. Analysts expect the margin squeeze to persist in the near term, given ongoing global supply chain pressures and elevated commodity costs.

The results come amid broader concerns over inflationary pressures in South Korea’s food sector, where manufacturers have struggled to pass through higher costs to consumers without dampening demand. CJ CheilJedang’s performance is closely watched as a bellwether for the country’s consumer goods industry.

The company plans to provide detailed financials, including segment breakdowns, when it releases its full quarterly earnings report later this month.
