Chubb Names Leaders for Digital Business Unit

Chubb Limited (NYSE: CB) named two executives to lead its global digital business unit, effective immediately, as part of an organizational reshuffle that also created a new chief scientist position.

Johan Oosthuizen was appointed Global Head of Digital Business, assuming executive responsibility for all aspects of the company’s digital operations, including partnership acquisition and performance as well as product deployment. He previously served as Global Digital Chief Technology Officer, where he led Chubb’s global digital technology strategy. Oosthuizen brings more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation and innovation. He reports to Paul McNamee, president of Overseas General Insurance and executive vice president of Chubb Group, and is accountable to Bryce Johns, president of Chubb Life and senior vice president of Chubb Group, for life-related production.

Gabriel Lazaro was appointed Global Head of Digital Growth and Strategic Consumer Partnerships. In that role, he will oversee partnership relationships and growth strategies across digital platforms, technology companies and emerging ecosystems, with responsibility for identifying new growth opportunities and managing existing ones across both property and casualty and life insurance segments. Lazaro joined Chubb in 2016 as Head of Digital for Latin America and was promoted in 2021 to executive vice president and head of digital business for Overseas General Insurance. Prior to joining Chubb, he held international digital roles at AIG, including global digital marketing director and head of digital for emerging markets. He reports to McNamee and Oosthuizen.

The leadership changes follow the appointment of Sean Ringsted as chief scientist and executive vice president of Chubb Group.

Chubb operates in 54 countries and territories, providing commercial and personal property and casualty insurance, personal accident and supplemental health insurance, reinsurance and life insurance. The company employs approximately 45,000 people worldwide.
