Battalion Oil invests in AI operations firm Collide

Battalion Oil Corp. (NYSE American: BATL), headquartered in Houston, announced on Monday, Sept. 8, 2026, that it will make an equity investment in Collide Industrial Technologies Inc., an AI operations-systems provider for the oil and gas industry. The company did not disclose financial terms and said the investment will be funded from balance-sheet cash. The arrangement grants Battalion strategic partner status, including priority access to Collide's operations system and product advisory rights.

Collide's system, Riggs, automates engineering and operational workflows across upstream, midstream and oilfield services. It consolidates data from PDFs, spreadsheets and legacy systems into a unified model. Battalion plans to deploy the system across its upstream operations, beginning with the unification of more than 100 terabytes of well files, land records, contracts and production history. The company expects the AI work environment to reach production engineers around day 90 of deployment.

Initial applications will target gas marketing reconciliation, field invoice review, power usage and hedging, and well failure diagnostics. Battalion intends to use the system in its Monument Draw development program in Ward County, Texas. It is also exploring a large-scale data center on company-owned surface acreage in West Texas, leveraging existing power, water and natural gas infrastructure.

Collide describes its addressable market as $20 billion within a $3 trillion annual global capital expenditure industry. Battalion Chief Executive Officer Matt Steele said the company has addressed a long-standing industry challenge by building AI that works with petroleum engineering. He said the strategic partnership gives Battalion input into the evolution of the Collide Operations System and early access to tools expected to reduce operating costs and improve capital efficiency.
