Atalaya Mining posts record Q2 2026 EBITDA, cites competitive costs
Mineral producer Atalaya Mining reported record second-quarter EBITDA for 2026, attributing growth to strong operational performance and sustained cost discipline.
Atalaya Mining PLC said on Wednesday it achieved record earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $124 million for the second quarter of 2026, up 18% from the same period a year earlier.
The London-listed company attributed the increase to higher metal prices and improved production volumes at its Spanish operations, particularly at the Proyecto Riotinto copper mine. Operational efficiency gains and disciplined cost management also contributed to the result, it said.
Unit costs fell 7% year-over-year to $1.45 per pound of copper produced, placing Atalaya among the lowest-cost producers in its peer group. The company maintained its full-year production guidance of 45,000 to 50,000 tonnes of copper, reaffirming its outlook despite recent volatility in base metal markets.
Atalaya’s chief executive, José Sevilla, said the record EBITDA reflected the company’s focus on operational excellence and strategic cost control. "We continue to benefit from our low-cost position and strong asset base," Sevilla said in a statement.
Shares in Atalaya were up 2.3% at midday in London trading following the announcement.
