Sampo Oyj (NASDAQ: SAMAS) repurchased 2,259,333 of its own A-shares in week 38, conducted between September 14 and September 18, according to a filing.
The buyback was executed across four trading venues—XHEL, CEUX, TQEX, and AQEU—with a combined weighted average purchase price of €9.41 per share. Of the total, 1,308,905 shares were bought on the Helsinki exchange at €9.41, while 795,610 shares were purchased on CEUX at a slightly lower average of €9.40. Morgan Stanley Co. International plc carried out the transactions on Sampo's behalf.
Following the week 38 purchases, Sampo held 32,778,801 of its own A-shares, representing 1.23% of all outstanding shares. The company's market buyback program, which has a maximum aggregate value of €350 million, was authorized by shareholders at the annual general meeting on April 22. It was formally announced on May 6 and began on May 7.
The repurchases were conducted in compliance with the EU Market Abuse Regulation (No. 596/2014) and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2016/1052.
Sampo did not disclose how much of the €350 million ceiling has been spent to date or any plans for further repurchases.
