Lockheed Martin Details Production Ramp, AI Push at Morgan Stanley Conference

Lockheed Martin (LMT) used the Morgan Stanley 14th Annual Laguna Conference on Thursday to detail a strategic push to scale up production of key defense systems and deepen its artificial-intelligence capabilities, as the company seeks to capitalize on rising U.S. defense spending.

CEO Jim Taiclet framed the company's role in an "evolving ecosystem" around systems integration—a capability he said the firm has honed over nearly a century. He pointed to complex programs including the F-35 fighter, Trident missile, Patriot PAC-3 MSE, and the Joint Advanced Tactical Missile (JATM) as examples of Lockheed's positioning.

On production scaling, Taiclet highlighted the GRIZZLY launcher as an example of rapid, non-RFP procurement. After receiving field-positive feedback from the customer, management ordered 1,000 units immediately, with a few hundred expected by year-end and the capacity to produce up to 5,000 launchers over a three-year sales window.

For Patriot PAC-3 MSE, Lockheed plans to more than triple annual production by the end of 2027, potentially exceeding 2,000 units per year. THAAD production is targeted to quadruple over the same period. The company's Heads of Agreement structures with the Pentagon provide cash-neutrality treatment, allowing Lockheed to protect near-term cash flow while deliveries convert to revenue, CFO Evan Scott said.

The company also reaffirmed its capital-intensity outlook, outlining $8 billion to $9 billion in facility, tooling and supply-chain investments through 2030. Lockheed's dividend remains one of its most noted financial traits: it has raised the payout for 23 consecutive years and maintained payments for 43 straight years.

Management provided little new color on its backlog but noted that nearly all of its 2017-level revenue is already funded by committed contracts, reducing exposure to continuing resolutions at the Defense Department.

On the technology front, Taiclet emphasized Lockheed's long-standing relationship with NVIDIA, which he said dates to 2017, and signaled continued investment in AI-driven capabilities across its portfolio. Other partners mentioned included Saildrone, Verizon and IBM.

Lockheed Martin shares trade at a market capitalization of approximately $121 billion, with a price-to-earnings ratio of 19.51 and a gross profit margin of 11.8%. Revenue grew 7.2% over the trailing twelve months as of the conference date.
