Global Engine Group to build Malaysia space-AI infrastructure

Global Engine Group has signed an agreement with Malaysian authorities to develop space-based artificial intelligence infrastructure, the company said on Monday.

The deal, announced without financial details, forms part of Malaysia’s broader push to expand its satellite and AI-driven data processing capabilities. The project is expected to support applications in agriculture, disaster monitoring and urban planning, according to a statement from Global Engine Group.

Malaysia’s government has prioritized technological sovereignty in recent years, allocating funding to domestic space and AI initiatives. The infrastructure will integrate satellite data with AI systems to improve real-time analytics for public and private sector use.

Global Engine Group, a diversified technology and engineering firm, did not disclose timelines, costs or specific technologies involved in the project. The company operates across aerospace, defense and digital infrastructure sectors, but provided no further operational or financial context regarding the Malaysia deal.

The agreement follows Malaysia’s 2023 National Space Policy, which outlined ambitions to develop a domestic space ecosystem and reduce reliance on foreign satellite services.
