Zurich Insurance announced a leadership change at the helm of its US operations, appointing Alex Wells as chief with immediate effect.
Wells takes over Zurich U.S., the group's subsidiary focused on insurance products for corporate clients. He replaces Sierra Signorelli, who has left the company.
Zurich filled the vacancy with an internal candidate. According to the group, Wells has in recent years led the Middle Market segment—serving mid-sized corporate clients—within Zurich's US business. Prior to joining Zurich, he held senior positions at Chubb and ACE in their commercial insurance divisions.
Since entering Zurich in 2020, Wells reportedly drove double-digit percentage growth in the Middle Market segment. The company also said he expanded staffing and expertise in underwriting and risk engineering, strengthened the firm's market presence, and developed specialized risk solutions.
Signorelli leaves after nearly nine years at Zurich. In her final role she oversaw both the US business and the firm's Commercial Insurance division for corporate customers.
