Wells Fargo: CTAs added US equities, gold and Treasuries
Commodity trading advisors increased allocations to U.S. stocks, gold and government bonds in recent trading sessions, according to Wells Fargo.

Commodity trading advisors (CTAs) have increased their exposure to U.S. equities, gold and U.S. Treasuries, Wells Fargo said in a note on Monday.
The bank’s analysis, based on positioning data, indicated that CTAs expanded their long positions in domestic equities and government debt while also boosting allocations to the precious metal. The shift reflects a cautious but selective approach to risk amid shifting market dynamics.
Wells Fargo did not specify the magnitude of the allocations or the timeframe over which the changes occurred. The bank’s observations highlight broader trends among systematic traders, who often adjust portfolios in response to macroeconomic indicators, volatility shifts or technical signals.
CTAs, which rely on quantitative models and trend-following strategies, have historically played a significant role in liquidity provision across asset classes. Their recent positioning suggests a preference for traditional safe-haven assets alongside select equity exposure, a dynamic that may influence short-term market sentiment.
