Venezuela is currently exporting roughly half of its crude oil production—about 500,000 barrels per day—to refineries in the United States, according to Kyle Haustveit, U.S. Energy Under Secretary.
Haustveit disclosed the figures during remarks at an event in Houston on Tuesday. The shipments target U.S. refineries specifically adapted to process Venezuelan crude, he noted. Venezuela’s daily oil output has stabilized near 1.25 million barrels in recent months, with the majority now flowing to American facilities.
The energy official emphasized that progress has been made in Venezuela’s oil sector and reiterated that contractual obligations would be honored. The shift in export patterns follows adjustments in sanctions policy and reflects renewed operational ties between the two countries.
