Shares of Veeva Systems advanced after Biogen announced a global deployment of the company’s Vault CRM platform, a move that underscores growing adoption of cloud-based customer relationship management tools in the pharmaceutical sector.
The decision by Biogen, a biotechnology firm, to implement Vault CRM on a global scale follows the company’s second-quarter financial report, which exceeded revenue and earnings expectations. Biogen reported Q2 revenue of $2.74 billion, surpassing Canaccord Genuity’s estimate of $2.40 billion and the consensus forecast of $2.46 billion. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $3.60, beating Canaccord’s projection of $2.68 and the consensus estimate of $2.94.
Biogen’s stock closed at $218.12 on August 24, up 1.34 points, or 0.62%, with pre-market trading listed at $218.89. The company’s shares have gained nearly 60% over the past year, supported by a revised full-year 2026 revenue outlook and the acquisition of APLS, which contributed to upward analyst revisions.
Veeva’s management noted Biogen was among the most-debated pharmaceutical companies on its internal top-20 list, though the firm ranks just below the industry’s leading 20 by certain metrics. The announcement follows a Raymond James analysis indicating that 12 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies have selected Veeva CRM, compared with six opting for Salesforce, while two remain undecided. Analysts expect the trend to stabilize, with 13 or 14 of the top 20 likely to choose Veeva.
Regeneron, another biotech firm outside the top 20, has also selected Vault CRM, according to Raymond James estimates. Biogen is preparing to release preliminary Phase 3 trial results for litifilimabe, a lupus treatment, in the Northern Hemisphere autumn.
Analysts have raised price targets for Biogen following its Q2 performance. Guggenheim set a target of $280 with a buy rating, while Oppenheimer set a $300 target with an outperform rating. RBC Capital raised its target to $260, H.C. Wainwright to $251, and Canaccord Genuity to $248.
Veeva is scheduled to hold an earnings call the night following publication.
