U.K. equities edged higher at the close of trade on Tuesday, with the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 index gaining 0.05% in London.
Advancers outpaced decliners by a margin of 677 to 1,006, while 577 stocks ended unchanged. Gains were led by the Software & Computer Services, Oil & Gas Producers and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors.
Among the top performers, RELX PLC rose 2.83% to 2,540.00, adding 70.00 points. Experian PLC advanced 2.72% to 2,875.00, gaining 76.00 points. BP PLC climbed 2.68% to 533.50, up 13.90 points.
The worst performers included Halma PLC, which fell 3.57% to 3,570.00, down 132.00 points. Weir Group PLC declined 3.22% to 2,586.00, while Diploma PLC dropped 2.79% to 7,150.00.
Commodities showed mixed performance, with gold futures for December delivery down 1.07% to $4,425.97 per troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery rose 0.90% to $84.49 per barrel, while Brent crude for October gained 0.66% to $91.47 per barrel.
Currency markets saw little movement, with GBP/USD and EUR/GBP both essentially flat at 1.35 and 0.86, respectively. The U.S. Dollar Index futures fell 0.04% to 99.50.
