In separate developments, space authorities reported that a four-tonne piece of a discarded SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is believed to have unintentionally impacted the moon at high speed. The debris, roughly the size of a building, had been in orbit since launching a lunar lander for Firefly Aerospace in January 2025.
