U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat representing New Jersey's 5th District, disclosed multiple stock trades in Alphabet, Meta Platforms and other companies, according to federal financial disclosures filed this week.
The transactions, which include purchases and sales of shares in Alphabet, Meta, Nvidia and several exchange-traded funds, were reported to the U.S. House Office of Financial Services. Gottheimer, who serves on the House Financial Services Committee, has previously faced scrutiny over his personal investments amid broader concerns about congressional trading practices.
A spokesperson for Gottheimer did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The disclosures follow recent legislative efforts to impose stricter rules on stock trading by members of Congress, including proposals to ban such transactions outright.
The trades were reported under the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act, which requires lawmakers to publicly disclose financial transactions within 45 days. The law aims to address perceptions of insider trading risks, though members of Congress are not currently prohibited from trading individual stocks.
Gottheimer’s portfolio includes holdings in major technology firms, reflecting broader trends among lawmakers with financial sector exposure. The transactions were filed with the Clerk of the House and are publicly accessible through the House Financial Disclosure Portal.
