Turkey’s BIST 100 rises 2.96% at close of trade
Istanbul benchmark advances as investors weigh policy shifts and global market sentiment.

Turkey’s benchmark BIST 100 index closed 2.96% higher on Wednesday, extending gains after a mixed session of regional equities.
The index, which tracks the performance of the 100 largest companies listed on the Borsa Istanbul, ended the day at 10,450.23 points, up 301.45 points from the previous session. Trading volume totaled 42.3 billion Turkish lira, below the 20-day average of 51.7 billion lira.
Investor focus remained on domestic policy signals and external macroeconomic conditions, including U.S. Treasury yields and global risk appetite. The lira held steady against the dollar, with the USD/TRY pair little changed at 32.85 by the close. Earlier in the session, the index had pared some gains amid profit-taking after a sharp intraday rally.
Analysts at local brokerages attributed the advance to renewed optimism over potential monetary policy adjustments and improved corporate earnings outlook for export-oriented firms. Energy and financials led sectoral gains, while technology and consumer staples lagged.
The BIST 100 has gained 12.4% over the past month, outperforming many emerging market peers amid a broader shift in investor sentiment toward Turkish assets.
