Turkey’s benchmark BIST 100 index closed 0.16% higher on Tuesday, reflecting selective buying interest in financial and industrial equities.
The index, which tracks the performance of 100 of the largest and most liquid stocks on the Borsa Istanbul, ended the session at 10,215.42 points, up from an intraday low of 10,180.37. Advancers led decliners 183 to 152, with 15 stocks unchanged.
Financial shares led gains, with lenders such as İş Bankası and Garanti BBVA contributing to the advance. Industrial names including Arçelik and Ford Otosan also posted gains, offsetting weakness in energy and technology stocks. The lira’s stability against the dollar during the session provided limited support to export-oriented sectors.
The modest rise follows a volatile period for Turkish equities, as investors weigh domestic policy signals against global risk sentiment. The central bank’s recent tightening measures and efforts to curb inflation have kept market participants cautious, despite improving corporate earnings in select sectors.
Volume on the Borsa Istanbul totaled 78.5 billion lira, above the 30-day average of 65.2 billion lira, indicating moderate participation in the session’s trade.
