Turkey’s benchmark BIST 100 index slipped 0.03% to close lower on Tuesday, pressured by declines in the technology and metal products & machinery sectors.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers by 418 to 198 on the Istanbul exchange, with 22 stocks unchanged. The modest retreat followed a session in which heavyweights in logistics and retail led gains, while industrial and technology names weighed on the broader market.
Top gainers included Pasifik Eurasia Lojistik Dis Ticaret AS, which rose 9.82% to 180.10, Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS, up 9.43% at 58.00, and BIM Birlesik Magazalar AS, which added 6.02% to 405.00. On the downside, Kiler Holding AS fell 7.50% to 67.20, Odine Solutions Teknoloji Ticaret ve Sanayi AS declined 6.06% to 2,827.50, and Dap Gayrimenkul Gelistirme AS dropped 5.61% to 8.08, marking a 52-week low.
The Turkish lira edged higher against major peers, with the USD/TRY rate up 0.03% to 47.92 and the EUR/TRY rate rising 0.02% to 55.53. The U.S. Dollar Index futures were little changed at 99.54.
Commodities showed divergent moves: gold futures for December delivery fell 1.40% to $4,410.92 per troy ounce, while October crude oil gained 1.28% to $84.81 per barrel and Brent crude for October delivery rose 1.01% to $91.79 per barrel.
