Shares of Toei Animation surged 5.6% to ¥2,995 on Monday, following the announcement of two new One Piece feature films during the One Piece Day'26 event in Chiba.
The studio revealed plans for One Piece Film God Valley, scheduled for release in summer 2027, and One Piece Film BAAD, slated for 2029. The announcements were made at Makuhari Messe during the weekend event, which also included the ONE PIECE Fest in Los Angeles on August 25–26.
Toei Animation’s stock reached its highest level since July 30, reflecting investor optimism tied to the franchise’s expanded content pipeline. The company’s revenue model relies on series production, copyright licensing, and character merchandising, all of which benefit from sustained fan engagement.
The broader market showed a contrasting trend, with the Nikkei 225 index declining 0.7% to 65,535 points. The index’s decline followed a weekend of mixed economic signals and profit-taking after recent gains.
The new films add to Toei’s One Piece portfolio, which includes the 2022 theatrical release One Piece Film RED. The 2027 release of God Valley coincides with the 30th anniversary of the One Piece manga, a milestone expected to further boost franchise visibility and commercial opportunities.
