Toei Animation Co. Ltd. shares climbed 2.9% to ¥3,075 on Tuesday, extending gains from the prior session as investors priced in the franchise’s expanding commercial footprint.
The advance followed the announcement of a $7 billion Dragon Ball Z-themed amusement park near Paris, a project spearheaded by Saudi entertainment group Qiddiya. The development, which will be located in France, marks a significant expansion for the Dragon Ball franchise outside its core Asian markets.
Toei, the original animator behind Dragon Ball Z and the One Piece series, holds licensing rights for the project. The company’s shares have also benefited from the recent announcement of two new One Piece films, which are expected to bolster earnings given the franchise’s consistent box office performance.
The stock’s upward momentum contrasted with the Nikkei 225 index, which showed muted performance during the same period. The shares, listed under ticker 4816, have gained 1.41% in the metadata breakdown, reflecting broader investor interest in the company’s franchise-driven growth strategy.
