Toei Animation Co. Ltd. shares rose 6.2% on Monday after the company announced two new feature films in its One Piece franchise at the "ONE PIECE DAY'26" event held over the weekend in Chiba, Japan.
The Tokyo-listed company’s stock advanced ¥170 to ¥3,010, extending gains from the event where it unveiled ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY, slated for release in summer 2027, and ONE PIECE FILM BAAD, expected in 2029. The news follows a period of heightened investor interest in Toei’s intellectual property portfolio, which underpins revenue from film production, copyright licensing, and character merchandise.
The broader market provided little tailwind, with the Nikkei 225 down 0.4% on Monday. The divergence underscored the specific impact of the franchise announcements on Toei’s valuation, as investors priced in potential long-term earnings visibility from the expanded film pipeline.
Toei Animation, which trades under ticker 4816 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, has increasingly relied on its anime franchises to offset volatility in its core animation business. The company’s recent slate, including high-profile titles such as Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon, has contributed to steady licensing revenue and merchandising demand.
