Strategy, the publicly traded bitcoin treasury company formerly known as MicroStrategy, purchased 950 bitcoin for $75.7 million last week, marking its first weekly accumulation since late August.
According to a regulatory filing Monday morning, the company funded the acquisition through the sale of $80.1 million in common stock. Proceeds in excess of the bitcoin purchase were allocated toward repurchasing $174 million of the firm's STRC preferred stock and adding to cash reserves.
At an average cost of $79,670 per bitcoin, the latest buy brings Strategy's total holdings to approximately 846,000 BTC, acquired at a cumulative cost of $63.81 billion and an all-time average price of $74,417 per coin, the company said.
Shares of Strategy rose nearly 7% in pre-market trading Monday, while bitcoin itself climbed to around $84,500, up roughly 4.5% over the previous 24 hours. The stock had closed Friday near $164.
