Congressman Steve Cohen, representing Tennessee's 9th district, disclosed significant stakes in JPMorgan Chase and U.S. Treasury bills through his Stephens Advantage Account, according to a congressional trade report filed on August 18.
The JPMorgan investment consists of an institutional certificate of deposit, a corporate security, with a principal amount between $100,001 and $250,000. The CD offers a 4.200% maturity rate and matures on August 11, 2027. JPMorgan shares were trading at $361.90 on Friday, with a market capitalization of $963 billion. The bank has delivered a 26% return over the past year and has maintained consecutive annual dividend payments for 56 years.
Cohen also disclosed a position in U.S. Treasury bills, classified as government securities and agency debt, with a similar principal amount. The Treasury bills carry a 0.00% interest rate and mature on August 5, 2027. The congressional filing did not specify whether these trades resulted in capital gains exceeding $200, as required under disclosure rules.
The transactions were executed through Cohen’s Stephens Advantage Account, a managed account structure used for his personal investments. The filings were submitted on the same day as the August 18 deadline for congressional trades.
