Startups Raise $3 Billion in Mega-Rounds Across AI, Energy, Biotech
Three companies secured funding rounds of at least $1 billion this week, while others in AI, cybersecurity and mining raised sizable capital. Total disclosed amounts exceeded $3 billion.

Startups across artificial intelligence, energy, biotechnology and other sectors raised over $3 billion in disclosed funding this week, led by three mega-rounds of at least $1 billion each.
The largest deal came from an AI-focused company, which raised $1.5 billion in a Series C round led by existing investors, according to data compiled by Crunchbase. The company, which develops large language models for enterprise applications, did not disclose a valuation but said the funds will be used to expand model training infrastructure and hire additional research staff.
In the energy sector, a renewable power startup secured a $1.1 billion round to accelerate the deployment of utility-scale battery storage projects. The financing was led by a sovereign wealth fund and included participation from infrastructure investors. The company plans to use the capital to develop projects in North America and Europe, targeting a total capacity of 5 gigawatts by 2027.
A biotech firm specializing in gene therapy raised $1 billion in a Series D round, with backing from both venture capital and corporate investors. The company, which focuses on rare genetic disorders, said the funds will advance clinical trials and expand manufacturing capabilities for its lead drug candidate.
Beyond the billion-dollar raises, several other startups announced sizable funding rounds. A cybersecurity startup raised $250 million in a growth equity round, valuing the company at $2.3 billion. The round was led by a private equity firm and included strategic investors from the technology sector.
In e-commerce, a direct-to-consumer brand raised $180 million in a Series E round, with participation from existing backers and new institutional investors. The company, which specializes in sustainable consumer goods, plans to expand into new product categories and geographic markets.
A mining technology company secured $120 million in a Series C round to develop AI-driven solutions for mineral exploration and processing. The financing was led by a mining industry veteran and included support from venture capital firms focused on industrial innovation.
The surge in large funding rounds reflects continued investor appetite for high-growth sectors, particularly those tied to artificial intelligence, energy transition and biotechnology. While mega-rounds remain concentrated in well-funded segments, the diversity of deals suggests broadening interest across emerging industries.
