Cinemark Holdings Inc. reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the highest-grossing domestic film in the company’s history in less than three weeks, surpassing all prior releases in its circuit.
The Marvel title set records across Cinemark’s premium formats, including Cinemark XD, ScreenX panoramic screens, and D-BOX motion seats, while also boosting sales of food, beverage, and merchandise. Cinemark XD accounted for 13% of the global box office in 2025 despite representing just 5% of screens, according to the company.
Justin McDaniel, Cinemark’s Senior Vice President of Global Content, described the achievement as "extraordinary," noting the film’s rapid dominance in domestic theaters. The company operates nearly 500 theaters with more than 5,500 screens across 42 U.S. states and 13 countries in Latin America, including 301 theaters and 4,219 screens in the U.S.
Cinemark’s domestic circuit features reclining seats in approximately 72% of locations, while its premium formats include over 300 Cinemark XD auditoriums across the U.S. and Latin America. The company’s Movie Club subscription program has surpassed 1.5 million members, and domestic guest satisfaction ratings are reported at roughly 95%.
The film’s success follows a slate of upcoming releases, including Practical Magic 2 on September 11, Resident Evil on September 18, The Cat in the Hat on November 6, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on November 20, and Dune: Part Three and Avengers: Doomsday, both scheduled for December 18.
